State Department for Transport Participates in the Official Launch of FY 2027/28 Budget and Medium-Term Budget Preparation
The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Kenya's transport sector as a key driver of economic growth, regional connectivity and sustainable development under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) during the Official Launch of the FY 2027/28 Budget and Medium-Term Budget Preparation.
The forum, convened by the National Treasury and Economic Planning, brought together Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Accounting Officers and senior government officials to review the country's macroeconomic outlook and outline priorities for the upcoming budget.
Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, Hon. John Mbadi, said the Government will continue to prioritize prudent public expenditure, innovation, digitalization and productivity to accelerate economic growth and improve service delivery across all sectors.
Principal Secretary for Economic Planning, Dr. Boniface Makokha, highlighted transport infrastructure as a key pillar of the BETA agenda, citing continued investments in strategic infrastructure, railway development and projects under the Fourth Medium-Term Plan (MTP IV) to enhance connectivity and drive economic transformation.
The forum also emphasized sound fiscal management, efficient budget implementation and continuous monitoring to ensure public resources deliver maximum value. The Government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting sustainable transport initiatives, including investments in green mobility and climate-responsive infrastructure, as Kenya advances towards a modern, integrated and resilient transport system.
