CS Murkomen Meeting Kwale Leaders at Transcom House, Nairobi

The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Hon Kipchumba Murkomen yesterday held a meeting with elected leaders from Kwale County at Transcom House, Nairobi.

He discussed an array of issues among them the State of Roads in the County and ongoing plans to expand the Ukunda Airstrip to allow larger planes to land and take off.

He briefed the leaders on ongoing engagements with contractors to enable the resumption of road construction works in the county that had stalled over non-payment of pending Bills.

The CS said the Ministry was committed to working closely with the leaders in the implementation of its infrastructure agenda in Kwale so as to boost tourism, ensure seamless transportation of goods to markets? and improve the lives of the people of Kwale.

Hon. Murkomen informed the leaders that the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is already working with contractors in areas where roads have been rendered impassable by floods to offer remedial solutions where possible.

The meeting was attended by the Kwale Senator Raphael Chimera, Women Representative Hon. Fatuma Hamisi, Msambweni MP Feisal Bader, Lungalunga MP Hon.Chiforomodo Munga, Kinango MP Gonzi Rae, Director Generals for KeNHA, Eng. Kung'u Ndung'u, KURA, Eng Silas Kinoti, KeRRA, Eng. Philemon Kandie and the Kenya Airports Authority MD Henry Ogoye.
