CS Chirchir and PS Daghar Attend Stakeholder Meeting on Transport Sector Priorities

The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Davis Chirchir, and the Principal Secretary for Transport, Mohamed Daghar, today attended a high-level stakeholder meeting convened by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to deliberate on the transport sector's contribution to Kenya's economy and address key challenges affecting the industry.

The meeting brought together stakeholders from the transport, financial, insurance and regulatory sectors to discuss priority issues affecting the industry's growth and sustainability, including auctioneering processes, the importation of electric vehicles (EVs), insurance-related matters and access to affordable financing.

Speaking during the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary emphasized the importance of collaborative engagement in addressing the sector's challenges and announced that a two-day stakeholder workshop will be held to develop practical, consensus-driven solutions.

Principal Secretary Mohamed Daghar called on the Auctioneers Licensing Board to engage relevant stakeholders in addressing licensing concerns. He further announced that a stakeholder workshop will be convened to deliberate on the identified issues, develop practical solutions, and strengthen collaboration across the transport sector.

The meeting underscored the Government's commitment to working closely with stakeholders to promote a safe, efficient, modern and sustainable transport sector that supports Kenya's economic growth.
