Validation of 2024/2025 Ministry Performance Contract

The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Mr. Davis Chirchir, yesterday led Ministry officials in a comprehensive review and validation of the Ministry Performance Contract for the Financial Year (FY) 2024/2025, conducted by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Performance and Delivery Management, Mr. Eliud Owalo.

Present during the meeting were Principal Secretary for Roads, Eng. Joseph Mbugua, Principal Secretary for Transport, Mr. Mohamed Daghar, together with heads of State Corporations in the Ministry. Mr. Owalo was accompanied by the Principal Secretary for Cabinet Affairs, Idris Dokota.

The meeting provided a comprehensive review of milestones and challenges across various departments in the last two financial years: 2022/2023 and 2023/2024. Success stories include: Kenya Ports Authority's rise in cargo throughput, Kenya Railways’ increase in SGR passengers and cargo and Kenya Airports Authority's rise in aircraft movements, passengers and cargo transportation.

The CS stated that while the Ministry has made notable progress in road construction and maintenance, there is an acknowledged need to enhance the speed of new road construction. The meeting also addressed the importance of conducting timely accident investigations and submitting reports.

The CS was appraised on the commitments of the Ministry in the vetted Performance Contract for the (FY) 2024/2025. Also on the agenda, were the status of implementation of the directives arising from the second National Executive Retreat, implementation of Cabinet decisions and E-Citizen compliance. The Performance Contract is anchored on the Ministry’s Annual Work plan; the Ministry’s Strategic Plan and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
