KECOSO Games Flag off
The Principal Secretary for Transport Mr. Mohamed Daghar, today flagged off the Ministry of Roads and Transport Kenya Communication Sports Organization (KECOSO) team that will participate in the annual games that will be held in Nakuru County from 31st August to 7th September 2024. The Principal Secretary, who is the Deputy Patron of the games, flagged off the team on behalf of the CS for Roads and Transport, Davis Chirchir.
This is the 43rd edition of the games which is an annual celebration that brings together the participation of three Ministries, three State Departments and their State Agencies. These are the Ministries of Roads and Transport, Information Communications and the Digital Economy, Youth Affairs, Sports and the Creative Arts, and State Departments of Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Public Works, and Housing and Urban Development.
This annual sporting event is a tradition that has been observed faithfully for over four decades making these games an important factor in bringing together participants from different parts of the Country and organizations. It continues the tradition of rotating the event across different counties. The last edition of the games was held in Narok County.
The core objective of the games is to promote the physical and mental fitness of the employees of member organizations. The games are important because sports infuse exceptional skills of teamwork, determination and courage to all the participants as well as making them strong and healthy.
The team will participate in football, netball, basketball, athletics, tennis, darts, pool, swimming, volleyball, badminton, Chess and scrabble.
The PS urged the team to support each other, foster teamwork and promote the spirit of sportsmanship and cooperation so that they could improve the overall performance of the Ministry.
Present was the Chief Engineer for Roads Eng. James Kungu, Chairman for KECOSO organizing Committee Mr. Kennedy Sakwa, Director for Human Resource Development for Roads Mr. James Gatere and the Director for Administration Roads, Mr. Anyumba Nyamwaya.
