Tree planting day at Gembe-Gera

State Department for Roads PS, Eng. Joseph Mbugua read the speech for the Ministry of Roads and Transport CS ,Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, E.G.H during the planting of trees at Gembe-Gera catchment area. The Ministry of Roads and Transport are to grow 30 million trees. "You cut a tree, you kill a life,"  the CS said. "Every tree we plant is a breath of life". The PS said that nature does not forgive and that we can own this initiative of planting trees. Ministry, Agencies and institutions represented during the National Tree Growing Day at Gembe Hills include: State Department for Roads, State Department for Transport, Kenha, Kura,  Kenya Roads Board, Kenya Forest Service, The National Youth Service, the institution of engineers of Kenya, National Police, KIHBIT Nyanza Branch, Nyanza Women representative, local political leaders, Stakeholders, County Government Commissioner & Officers, Green Army (Presidential Flagship program for planting 15 billion trees), USAID, Members of the ruling party in HomaBay, HoDs from HomaBay County, Kenya Wildlife Service, KPLC, Director General Representative of NEMA, Managing Director, Lakes Basin Authority, Old Mutual, Red Cross, Dedan Kimathi Foundation, International Crane Federation among others. More than 20,000 trees were planted. 257 sub locations in HomaBay County planted trees today in their respective areas. Plant, grow and maintain trees.
