Launch of Kieni Kiandege – Mworoga - Maara Road by H.E The President

H.E. President William Ruto PhD, today launched the construction works for the upgrading to Bitumen standards of the Kieni Kiandege – Mworoga - Maara Road in Imenti South Constituency, Meru County.

The 10 km will be constructed at a cost of Kshs. 700 million to be funded by the Government and implemented under the supervision of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).

The project was awarded to M/s. Signs Manufacturers Limited and will be completed within 24 months, after which it will undergo a performance based routine maintenance for a period of 36 months after completion.

Once completed, it is expected to reduce the journey time between the A9 Embu-Meru Road and the B65 Meru- Chaaria- Mitunguu road.

It will also spur economic growth by providing efficient transport of agricultural products in Imenti South Constituency.

Present was the Deputy President H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, Meru Governor H.E. Kawira Mwangaza, Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi, Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Zacharia Njeru, Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, performance and Delivery Management Hon. Moses Kuria, leader of Majority in National Assembly Hon. Kimani Ichungwa, Roads Principal Secretary Eng. Joseph Mbugua, and South Imenti MP Shadrach Mwiti.
